In 2022, four months before I came to Ithaca College from Shanghai, China, I was more than fortunate to experience this roller coaster of life - I got COVID and ended up in one of the temporary hospitals. From leaving my home to going back, it took 16 days (Apr. 23 - May. 8) - Did not shower one time; had my period while recovery; living with all ages of people in a repaired factory, etc.
I participated in the history of Shanghai. Following the last self-directed and self-acted documentary "Countdown Days", I tried to create the documentary "Unknown” in order to record the real temporary hospital life in Shanghai. Although "Unknown" has 23 minutes, it documents the entire process of my journey from home to the transfer station, to the temporary hospital, to turn negative, to be positive again, to turn negative again, to transfer, and to returning home. Now that the Hangjin Temporary Hospital has been closed. I believe these videos will become the most precious pictures. Thank you to all the medical staff, special security personnel, and hospital volunteers, as well as some friends I met in the hospital who helped me along the way.
