As an artist/photographer, I’ve always wondered how artists make a living in real life. I found Ithaca Art Trail, a program started in 1999 and now involves 55 artists on board. I have visited 9 artists who create different medium of art. I went to their studios/homes/farmhouses, talking with them about their journeys, inspirations, and challenges. I learned some of them, like me, had a hard time monetizing their work; some of them lost everything in their 50s and restarted their life by changing the name and becoming an artist officially, while some of the have been passionate about a type of art for over 50 years; some of them lost their love, while someone said they won't become an artist without their love. This project is an opportunity for me to see my potential future lives as an artist. It is also an opportunity for me to connect with a community, Ithaca, that's on the other side of the earth from where I grew up.
